SANYO Presents Industry's Brightest*1 Two-lamp Projectors
Providing high luminance effective even at bright venues
Tokyo, December 10, 2007 - SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO) presents today two new two-lamp commercial-use projectors, the LP-XF70 and the widescreen LP-WF20. The new LP-XF70 model can emit 9,000 lumens, the brightest*1 in its class, while the new LP-WF20 model is a widescreen-XGA projector capable of emitting 6,000 lumens. Both project high resolution images through the industry's first*2 two-lamp photosynthesis technology, and adopt the Active Maintenance Filter (AMF) system, reducing cost and time in maintenance. The LP-XF70 and LP-WF20 projectors will be on sale in Japan starting from January 11 and January 21 respectively.

At the press conference for the launch of the new projectors, Dr. Keiichi Yodoshi, Vice President of SANYO Electric Co., Ltd., and DI Company Vice President, commented,"The launch of these two-lamp projectors that are not only bright enough to use in large event halls and at other large venues marks another stepping stone for SANYO. With these new projectors in the line-up, we can better meet the needs of our customers in the large event/conference and halls market, digital signage market, and office-use market." Additionally, these new projectors will be on display in Amsterdam at ISE 2008 to be held from January 29 to January 31, 2008.

Supplemental Notes
Outline
The number of projectors shipped in the global market was approximately 5.1 million units in FY2006 and is expected to increase to some 5.8 million units for FY2007. It will continue to expand steadily, reaching approximately 7.7 million units by FY2009 according to company research.
SANYO provides a wide line-up of projectors, ranging from larger, high luminance and high precision models for large screens at venues in places such as event halls and cinemas to smaller, lighter mobile models used in small meetings with only several participants. For commercial projectors used for high-precision large screens, such as those used in cinema advertising, SANYO has an exceptional reputation and retained the industry's largest share for many years. In response to the growing demand for higher luminance, higher resolution, and lower maintenance, SANYO has advanced its image processing technology and optical engine technology through focusing on product development.
These efforts show fruition in the new LP-XF70, which utilizes highly efficient optical engine technology rendering the highest luminance of its class*1. With a newly developed two-lamp layout system providing high resolution images and the built-in AMF system in both the LP-XF70 and LP-WF20, SANYO is able to successfully offer a projector line-up to customers that maximizes maintenance efficiency, reducing both cost and time.
Detailed Explanation
Main Features
LP-XF70 Feature
1. Two-lamp LP-XF70 provides the highest luminance of its class*1 at 9,000 lumens, while achieving the highest light efficiency*2 from the industry's first*3 AC100V adapter
With the adoption of two lamps providing a high output of 330W and new optical engine technology, the LP-XF70 is capable of emitting 9,000 lumens, the highest luminance in two-lamp projectors. These features also contribute to lower electricity consumption, a reduction of 37% against SANYO's existing model*4, which means light efficiency increased by 160%. This enables the projector to be used in settings where only AC100V is available, making the construction of electric wiring for AC200V unnecessary.
*2 As of December 10, 2007. Light efficiency (lm/W) = brightness (lm) / lamp output (W)
*3 As of December 10, 2007 for projectors capable of emitting 9,000 lumens or more
*4 Compared to the LP-XF42
LP-WF20 Feature
1. Two-lamp LP-WF20 provides high luminance of 6,000 lumens in widescreen-XGA format
The widescreen LP-WF20 is capable of emitting 6,000 lumens with highly efficient optical engine technology similar to that used in the LP-XF70. To respond to the growing demand for widescreen projectors, SANYO will launch more models equipped with widescreen panels as well as the AMF system, reducing cost and time in maintenance.
LP-XF70 and LP-WF20 Shared Features
2.High resolution images through industry's first*1 two-lamp photosynthesis technology*5
Upon reviewing the existing two-lamp layout system, SANYO developed a new photosynthesis optical system. The system uses three mirrors in combination, which enables uniform light output from the two lamps, enabling uniform color development while achieving high resolution.
*5 As of December 10, 2007 for projectors
3. Industry's longest-use*6 new-type filter through Active Maintenance Filter system (AMF)
The Active Maintenance Filter system automatically senses when air intake is blocked or clogged by dust or dirt, and uses this air flow as an indicator when to automatically reel the filter, eliminating the need for maintenance personnel to constantly open each filter casing to check manually. The filter is mounted on a cartridge-type reel that simply advances the filter to the next clean filter automatically. With this function, manual replacements of filter cartridges are only necessary when the cartridge reel has advanced through the pre-loaded 10 filters. The filter function helps each filter last longer, the industry's longest of approximately 10,000 hours*6. Moreover, no screws are used in these cartridge-type filters, making recycling easier.
