'eneloop mobile booster': Charging Portable Electronic Devices
Three new reserve batteries from SANYO provide back-up power to mobile devices
Tokyo, September 4, 2007----SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO), the world's largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries, expanded the eneloop universe, a concept of recycling ('looping') energy, with the introduction of three new 'eneloop mobile boosters', portable reserve batteries that provide back-up power for USB-compatible mobile electronic devices, from mobile phones and portable game consoles to MP3 players.
One of the boosters uses two eneloop AA batteries, the award-winning and revolutionary nickel-metal hydride rechargeable battery that proposes environmental and economical solutions to mobile energy. The other two boosters contain high-powered lithium-ion batteries capable of recharging the electronic device at a higher capacity. Once charged via the USB port or a power outlet, the nickel-metal hydride or lithium-ion batteries are the ideal emergency companions when running on empty while on the move. The eneloop mobile boosters will be on sale in Japan from December 2007.

SANYO will continue to expand its rechargeable battery product lineup based on its brand vision 'Think GAIA', proposing global energy solutions and LOHAS*1 lifestyle solutions compatible with the natural environment and comfortable living.
*1 LOHAS = Life of Health and Sustainability
- Three boosters powered by SANYO's world-leading battery technology
- Portable reserve batteries supplying energy via built-in USB power ports
- Informs user of current residual battery charge in four stages
Outline
The three eneloop mobile boosters are the newest addition to the 'eneloop universe', an environmental and economical concept developed by SANYO based on recycling, or 'looping' energy. SANYO has continued to release products based on this eneloop concept since the launch of the revolutionary eneloop rechargeable battery in November 2005, the first product initiated under the company's 'Think GAIA' brand vision, and approximately 30 million of which have been shipped worldwide*2.
These revolutionary batteries, which can be recharged approximately 1,000 times*3, combine the ready-to-use advantage of conventional primary batteries, with the higher capacity and re-useable benefit of rechargeable batteries. Every eneloop comes charged when sold and therefore can be used immediately after purchase, possible due to SANYO's ground-breaking technology which reduces self-discharge, previously an impediment to the wide-use of rechargeable batteries. At the end of their lifecycle, the battery can be recycled. eneloop batteries are, therefore, both green and economical, and the batteries have received high acclaim from the market as well as numerous awards.
On this occasion, SANYO is releasing another product in the eneloop line-up, the eneloop mobile booster, that includes a booster with 2 eneloop AA batteries and two boosters with lithium-ion batteries, all with USB power port-compatibility, so that there is no need to worry about batteries running out of power while out and about.
*3 Battery life based on testing methods established by JIS C8708 2004(4.4) (varies according to conditions of use)
Detailed Explanation
The three eneloop mobile boosters use either two removable eneloop AA batteries (KBC-E1S), or an internal lithium-ion battery (KBC-L2S, KBC-L3S)
Through the built-in USB power port, it is possible to recharge a variety of portable devices.
| Output charging time*4: | KBC-E1S - | approx. 70 min. |
| KBC-L2S - | One power port output approx. 240 min. Two power ports output approx. 120 min. |
|
| KBC-L3S - | approx. 120 min. |
*4 Standard power output time from fully charged battery in a DC 5V 500mA output
The blue LED shows the residual battery capacity in four stages, informing the user of the remaining charge in the eneloop mobile booster.
