Regarding the Effects of the Niigata-ken Chuetsu-oki Earthquake

Tokyo, July 17, 2007 - SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO) announces the effects of the earthquake that occurred on the morning of July 16, also known as the Niigata-ken Chuetsu-oki Earthquake, on operations in the prefecture.

Immediately following the earthquake, there were no reports of injuries among SANYO Group employees, and no apparent damage following initial inspections of utilities such as electricity, gas, or water in the Niigata Plant, operated by SANYO Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. However, as a precautionary safety measure against earthquake aftershocks, placing the highest emphasis on the safety of employees, SANYO suspended operations at the plant temporarily for further inspections. Following the results and confirmation of the safety inspections, as well as the successful start up of the production equipment, operations resumed again this afternoon.

Additionally, there are no expected delays in deliveries to customers and clients.

Furthermore, there was no noteworthy damage to SANYO's Niigata, Nagano sales and service locations or other companies related to the SANYO Semiconductor Group.
