Tokyo, July 3, 2007 - SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO), a world leader in presentation technologies, announces the sale of a high resolution projector that has achieved the industry's highest brightness, 6,500 lumens, in the portable-class, single-lamp LCD projector category - the LP-XP100L - available starting from August 1.

This year, SANYO has already announced the sale of two projectors: the industry's brightest LCD large-size projector model, the LP-XF47 (capable of 15,000 lumens), and a small-size projector that changes the way people view projectors with the ultra-short focus lens model, the LP-XL50 (capable of projecting an 80-inch screen from a mere 8 cm). On this occasion, SANYO announces the newest member of its line-up with a mid-size, portable-class projector, equipped with SANYO's proprietary new high brightness optical engine, the LP-XP100L, which is capable of an impressive 6,500 lumens with only a single lamp. Additionally, the projector houses an on-board active maintenance filter system, which improves durability and ease-of-maintenance, perfect for the large meeting rooms/meeting hall, digital signage, seminar and business presentation, and education market segments.

SANYO, through expanding its mid-range projector line-up, will be able to provide new and exciting solutions for offices, digital signage (electronic advertising), and large presentation meetings.

SANYO is committed to continuously providing new solutions by openly employing its propriety technologies in creative ways, based on its global Brand Vision 'Think GAIA'.

Outline

The shipment number of projectors to the global market was 5.1 million units for 2006, and the forecast for 2007 is 5.8 million units. Growth is expected to continue to expand (according to company studies) in 2009 to reach a record-breaking shipment of 7.7 million units.

As for projectors, SANYO has a broad line-up, ranging from conference and digital movie theater projectors with high definition and high brightness, to a number of small- and mid-size mobile models used in smaller meeting and class rooms. SANYO has received acclaim particularly for the large screen compatibility of its high resolution large-type projector models for many years, and holds a top share in the industry. SANYO is constantly developing high quality, value-added products, polishing the optical design and image processing technology associated with its large projector models.

The LP-XP100L announced today, by equipping a new high quality optical engine, has been able to achieve the highest brightness*1 for its class with 6,500 lumens, and through equipping an active maintenance filter system, boasts higher durability. Also, through better temperature control and angle detection technology, the projector can be installed at just about any angle without overheating.

Detailed Explanation

1.Industry's highest brightness*1, 6,500 lumens; low power consumption through the industry's best optical efficiency*2

With only one lamp, the LP-XP100L has achieved the industry's highest brightness*1 in its class with 6,500 lumens through the use of a new optical engine that has the industry's best optical efficiency*2. Compared with conventional projectors*4 of similar brightness, the new LP-XP100L has approximately halved the amount of power consumption, using only 490 watts, while being nearly twice as optically efficient. With brightness close to multiple-lamp use large model projectors, this single-lamp projector can be used in many diverse settings, such as classrooms, event halls, and meeting rooms. *4 LP-XF60A Power Output = 900 watts.

2.Industry's longest-use*3 new-type filter - On-board Active Maintenance Filter System (AMF)

The new AMF system perceives dirt by detecting the speed of air flow through the projector, and
automatically advances the filter to the next one in the cartridge. The cartridge filter is good up 10
automatic filter changes, with only 1 physical exchange of the cartridge. The cartridge is
replaceable with a single touch, and the projector can be used without any additional filter
maintenance for the industry's longest amount of time*3 - up to 10,000 projector hours. The filter
does not utilize metal screws, therefore making it a renewable resource, or fully recyclable.
By adding this filter cartridge, the projector can be installed in harder to reach locations, such as the ceiling, as it will not require as much maintenance.

On-board Active Maintenance Filter - Filter life:
1000 hours (for 1 filter) x 10 filters on cartridge = 10,000 projector hours
- Cartridge allows for one-touch replacement
- No metal screws used, fully recyclable

3.Compatible with various projection settings

If a projector is placed at an unusual angle or depending on the environment, cooling technology becomes necessary to control and prevent the projector from overheating. The LP-XP100L projector comes with a temperature control mechanism and angle detection sensor, which detects the angle from an acceleration sensor. This fan control technology is able to control the fans regardless of the angle used for projection, opening new possibilities for projection use.
