Regarding net sales, despite intense competition and falling prices in digital cameras and telephone handsets causing sales of these categories falling short of the previous forecast, due to favorable developments in navigation equipment, rechargeable batteries and solar cells; in the aggregate the forecast largely corresponds to the previous forecast. In terms of profit, reform of the cost structure across all businesses, reorganization of production bases, and improvements in human resources; the ongoing structural transformation resulted in an operating income exceeding previous forecasts. Regarding income (loss) before income taxes and minority interest for continuing operation and net income, despite increasing product-related expenditures, results surpassed previous forecasts.
