The Move to Tokyo

The Move to Tokyo
Directly opposite the Matsushita Electric Production Plant was the Nishinoda Technical High School. Being part of a technical business and realizing that his future would require knowledge in this area, Toshio with permission from Konosuke decided to attend evening classes. Every day after work for two years Toshio studied hard. He learned the basics of electricity and went on to eventually acquire the technical expertise and skills demanded for tools and machines.
In his sales visits to Nagoya and Tokyo, Toshio saw room for potential growth. Toshio approached Konosuke and asked to be sent to Tokyo to open a branch office. Konosuke was doubtful the Tokyo market would welcome goods produced in Osaka and apprehensive about making such a young boy manager. However, in the spring of 1920, Konosuke finally agreed and Toshio headed off once again on his own but this time in a new suit and for the big city. He was seventeen years of age.
