The period of volunteer vacations allowed for earthquake-related
services was extended from the regular six days per year to as long as necessary.
As a result, a total of 820 volunteer vacations was taken by employees. |

Employees wishing to conduct volunteer activities were registered
and places requiring volunteers were introduced. The total number of participants
was 1,282 |

Volunteers assisting in operation and management were regularly
dispatched to evacuation centers in the cities of Kobe and Ashiya. The total number
of participants was 74. |
| Material support |

Drinking water and SANYO products including batteries, flashlights,
facsimile machines and kerosene fan heaters were donated to local government disaster
countermeasures offices, evacuation centers, non-profit organizations working
in disaster areas and schools for the disabled. |

The Volunteer Promotion Committee invited employees to donate
towel and soap sets with messages included. A total of 11,500 sets was collected
and sent to evacuation centers and temporary public baths. |
| Monetary support |

Voluntary contributions from employees and the company were
combined and sent to Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe City. |

During the first year after the earthquake, a fundraiser
was organized for the purpose of supporting non-profit organizations which had
continued to provide service in disaster areas. The collected funds were donated
to Kobe YMCA and the Kobe Office of the Ashinaga Scholarship Program. |
