SANYO has provided support for areas affected by large-scale disasters throughout the world.

Voluntary contributions collected from employees were donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society of Hokkaido.

Northridge (Los Angeles) Earthquake (1994)
Donations from employees and the company were combined and sent to five elementary, juniorhigh schools and high schools in heavily damaged Chatswarth City as well as the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles.

Support for Ruwandan refugees (1995)
A fundraiser was organized for refugees from Ruwanda suffering from the civil war and sickness. Collected funds and a contribution from the company were combined and sent to the Africa Society of Japan.

Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake (1995)
Physical support
The period of volunteer vacations allowed for earthquake-related services was extended from the regular six days per year to as long as necessary. As a result, a total of 820 volunteer vacations was taken by employees.
Employees wishing to conduct volunteer activities were registered and places requiring volunteers were introduced. The total number of participants was 1,282
Volunteers assisting in operation and management were regularly dispatched to evacuation centers in the cities of Kobe and Ashiya. The total number of participants was 74.

Material support
Drinking water and SANYO products including batteries, flashlights, facsimile machines and kerosene fan heaters were donated to local government disaster countermeasures offices, evacuation centers, non-profit organizations working in disaster areas and schools for the disabled.
The Volunteer Promotion Committee invited employees to donate towel and soap sets with messages included. A total of 11,500 sets was collected and sent to evacuation centers and temporary public baths.

Monetary support
Voluntary contributions from employees and the company were combined and sent to Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe City.
During the first year after the earthquake, a fundraiser was organized for the purpose of supporting non-profit organizations which had continued to provide service in disaster areas. The collected funds were donated to Kobe YMCA and the Kobe Office of the Ashinaga Scholarship Program.

Russian tanker breaks open and oil leaks out (1997)
SANYO products were donated to the Oil Disaster Volunteer Center in Mikunicho, Fukui.
In response to a call from the Volunteer Promotion Committee, 68 employees offered to recover leaked oil.
